Siemens Healthineers AG is a company dedicated to the healthcare industry, specializing in medical technology, services in the areas of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, molecular medicine, laboratory diagnostics, as well as business services, software and digital health consulting.
It was founded in 2017 after separating from its parent company Siemens, which was initially created in 1847, merging with "Veifa-Werke" in 1932 to form Siemens-Reiniger-Werke (SRW), later renamed "Siemens Healthcare", which developed innovative products at the time such as the rotating anode tubes used in X-rays.
After several acquisitions and partnerships, they made important advances such as the ultrasound technique for echocardiography, the first cardiac pacemaker, the first "real-time" ultrasound unit, the exhibition of its first tomographic image of a human head in 1974, the first laboratory automation system, the combination of positron emission tomography (PET) with computed tomography (CT), among others.
