Description of the company

Brenntag SE. is a company dedicated to the distribution of chemical products, including supply activities, marketing and custom applications service, connecting manufacturers with users, offering close to 10,000 products reaching approximately 195,000 customers, covering markets such as oil and gas, coatings, pharmaceuticals, water treatment and personal care.

It has its origins in 1874 being called "Brennstoff-, Chemikalien- und Transport AG" as a wholesaler of eggs, but it is not until 1912 when they are dedicated to the distribution of chemicals, changing the name to "Brenntag" in 1938, expanding its storage activities to include other product lines both inorganic and organic, plastics, solvents, resins and others.

By 1966 it acquired the Balder company in Belgium, becoming a multinational, reaching the United States in 1970 and continuing its expansion progressively, entering Europe, Latin America, Asia, through its strategy of buying several companies in international markets.

Starting in 2015, it was fully dedicated to introducing in sustainability procedures, making energy consumption efficient, for which it has won several awards, changing its operating model in 2021 by creating two global divisions, Brenntag Essentials and Brenntag Specialties.

The company currently has more than 600 locations in 72 countries, supported by more than 17,000 employees, with sales of more than 19 billion euros by 2022.
