Description of the company

BMW AG, whose name comes from the initials of "Bayerische Motoren Werke" AG, which refers to the manufacture of engines, is dedicated to the creation of luxury automobiles and motorcycles, with widely recognized subsidiaries such as Rolls-Royce, BMW i, Mini and BMW Bank.

It was founded in 1916 with the merger between "Flugmaschinenfabrik Gustav Otto" and "Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke AG", starting the construction of automobiles in 1928, and producing aircraft engines autonomously from 1934, also continuing with a process of acquisitions and divestitures throughout its history.

In 1945, after the Second World War, it had to set up a temporary production facility because its factories were dismantled as an armaments company, but it continued to expand worldwide, reaching South Africa in 1972, and building an administrative tower in Munich that became known as the "four-cylinder building", creating sales subsidiaries around the world the following year.

In 1994 they acquired the Rover group and in 1998 they obtained the brand rights to Rolls-Royce plc, introducing their electric mobility products to the market from 2013.

The group currently has more than 137 thousand employees of which approximately 91% are dedicated to the automotive segment, with packaging and production plants in 15 countries, has recorded more than 35 billion euros in revenues by 2022.
