It was spun off from the parent company in 2015, going public and receiving a name change to Covestro, which stands for the union of the words "collaboration," "invest" and "strong."

Its products have applications in a wide range of industries, implemented in everyday life solutions and other more demanding uses with high performance materials such as Automotive, Construction, Cosmetics, Electronics, Household appliances, Energy production, Health care, Industrial and agricultural applications, Marine and boats, Packaging and printing, Safety and security, Sports, Leisure, Wooden articles and furniture, among others.
