Description of the company

Beiersdorf AG, a company specialized in the manufacture and marketing of consumer goods focused on personal care, owns important brands such as Nivea, Eucerin, Hansaplast, Labello, Atrix, Elastoplast, Florena and La Prairie.

It was founded in 1882 by pharmacist Paul C. Beiersdorf, who made adhesive plates using elements of the gutta-percha tree, becoming very popular at the time, which years later would become the Tesa division of the same organization.

In 1892 the company inaugurated a new production plant, which was gradually expanded until it became today the headquarters of the corporation, entering the North American market the following year. In 1900 it patented the Eucerit cream, today known as Eucerin, and formed the basis for its popular product Nivea, which was introduced to the public in 1911.

From the first decade of that century, the company expanded internationally, opening its first offices in London in 1906, then in Vienna, Austria, and by 1914 had commercial activities in 34 countries, gradually diversifying its product portfolio.

It is currently headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, but operates globally through more than 170 subsidiaries, divided into two main segments: Consumer Business dedicated to the business of specialized skin care products and Tesa Business where self-adhesive products are manufactured.
