Description of the company

MTU Aero Engines NA O.N., is a leading engine manufacturer in Germany, dedicated to the research, development and manufacture of military and commercial engines, focused on minimizing emissions, has a global presence, with 18 facilities worldwide, employing approximately 11 thousand people.

It originates from the founding of the aircraft engine factory in 1913, becoming Bayerische Motorenwerke (BMW) in 1917, from which it is separated as BMW Flugmotorenbau GmbH, growing rapidly with products widely known in the industry as the "barbarian engine", merging with Draimler in 1926, selling in 1934 the part corresponding to BMW Flugmotorenbau GmbH, due to the pressure of the Nazis in that sector.

Since then the new spin-off company developed the first radial engine, having a series of drawbacks due to the war, managing to restart in 1954 with the launch of the BMW Studiengesellschaft, joining MAN Turbomotoren GmbH.

In the 1970s the company designed and manufactured commercial engines, diversifying its activities to include other maintenance and repair services, becoming a subsidiary of Daimler-Benz again in 1985, becoming MTU Aero Engines Holding AG in 2005.

Its business units include Commercial Aircraft Engines, Military Aircraft Engines and Industrial Gas Turbines, covering market segments that include Narrow Body Jets, Wide Body Jets, Combat Aircraft, Transport Aircraft and Military Helicopters, Business Aircraft, Turboprops and Commercial Helicopters.
