Description of the company

AT&T is one of the largest and oldest multinational telecommunications companies in the world, founded in 1880 by Alexander Graham Bell, initially called Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, which operated as a subsidiary of Bell Telephone Company.

Because the telephone patent was owned by Bell until 1894, the company controlled the market exclusively, becoming a monopoly in 1913, so it dominated telecommunications in the United States for almost a century, until an antitrust lawsuit split it up in 1984.

The company has been successful in many of its operations highlighting the realization of the first call through a portable telephone. Among its most important recent decisions is the acquisition of Directv, as well as that of "Lusacell" covering with this the entire Mexican territory, also bought Time Warner renamed as WarnerMedia controlling cable television media, in 2019 manages to open to the world of streaming, and then in 2021 merging WarnerMedia with Discovery forming Warner Bros Discovery.

It has changed its name several times and has been subdivided on several occasions, but today it is positioned throughout the American continent offering fixed and mobile telephony services, broadband, cable television, digital TV, production, podcast, news agency, video games, among others.
