Description of the company

Chevron Corporation is a U.S. company engaged in the oil, natural gas, gasoline production and mining industries.

It was founded in 1879 under the name of "Star Oil", starting activities in the Newhall field, soon after it was acquired by "Pacific Coast Oil Company", becoming the largest oil company in California, it obtained several companies growing exponentially until in 1911 due to the antitrust law it was divided into the "seven sisters".

Today Chevron owns the Standard Oil brand, the result of one of those split companies, made many acquisitions and mergers, among them "Texaco", as of 2010 decreased its participation in retail gasoline distribution and focused on natural gas for domestic use.
