Description of the company

AES Andes S.A. is a company with operations in Chile, Argentina and Colombia, dedicated to the generation of electric power, formerly known as AES Gener, owned by Inversiones Cachagua Ltda, which in turn is a subsidiary of AES Corporation, a U.S. multinational company with operations in fourteen countries.

AES Andes S.A. was founded in 1921, under the name of Chilectra Generación (Chilgener). In 1923 it began operating the Maitenes Hydroelectric Power Plant located in San José de Maipo, and continued opening, during the following years, this type of facilities in different parts of the country, in addition to Thermoelectric Power Plants.

In 2000, it changes to AES Gener, expanding its business line to wind farms, energy storage with batteries and photovoltaic panels, obtaining its new name in 2021.

Currently headquartered in Santiago de Chile, its activities are related to the generation of solar photovoltaic, wind, thermoelectric, biomass, energy storage, run-of-river hydroelectric power, among others.
