Description of the company

The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) is a U.S. multinational company engaged in the manufacture of consumer goods such as personal care, beauty, home care, hygiene, fabrics, among others.

It was founded in 1837 by William Procter from England and James Gamble from Ireland, both settled in Cincinnati, where they began to manufacture and distribute soaps and candles that were very successful, especially during the Civil War, when they exclusively supplied the Union Army.

During the following years the company grew exponentially, even sponsoring famous radio programs of the time, and by 1950 the company had expanded internationally creating highly recognized brands and products such as "Crest" toothpaste, "Pampers" diapers, "Tide" detergent, "Downy" fabric softener and buying other companies such as Gillette, Pantene, Tampax, etc.

Also due to their product "Crisco" they ventured into the food industry with the creation and commercialization of "Pringles" potato chips, which was later sold to Kellogg's, as well as their peanut butter "Jif" sold to Smucker's.

They are headquartered in Ohio, Cincinnati, but have sales and marketing operations in Asia, Europe, India, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and North America.
