Bank of Ireland GP. is a financial services group with broadly diversified activities, regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, located in a building in Baggot Street, Dublin.

It was founded in 1783 in Mary's Abbey, Dublin, opening its doors to the public in 1808, being named in 1922 as the official bank of the Irish Government, beginning with a policy of acquisitions that included the purchase of the National Land Bank in 1926, obtaining the share capital of Hibernian Bank Ltd., then merging with Hibernian and Bank of Ireland in 1969 to form the Bank of Ireland Group.

In 1980 they placed their first ATM, diversifying their product portfolio by offering life insurance from 1987, launching private banking two years later, including credit services through Visa cards, and continuing with their strategy of partnerships and acquisitions, achieving in 2003 a financial services partnership linked to the UK Post Office.

As of 2010 they obtain permission from the European Commission to implement a restructuring plan, launching smartphone banking applications two years later, becoming a fully private institution as of 2022.
