Almirall S.A. is a company that works in the pharmaceutical industry through the creation and commercialization of medicines based on its own research and development department (R&D), together with offering dermatology products and services.

It was founded as Laboratorios Almirall in 1943, although it began its commercial activities in 1944. Six years later, it incorporated R&D activities to its activities, building its first chemical plant in 1970 in Barcelona.

In 1980 it began to expand by acquiring several Spanish companies, becoming a leader in pharmacology in its country, especially in the areas of oncology and dermatology, and opened its first subsidiary in Belgium, expanding into Portugal, America, Asia and Europe.

Currently headquartered in Barcelona, with direct presence in 21 countries, in addition to collaboration agreements in 70 other countries and 15 subsidiaries, they have acquired important brands such as Almax, Ebastel, Acticlate, Almogran, Monodox, Tesavel & Efficib, Solaraze, Decoderm, Cordran, Parapres, Balneum, Sativex, Cleboril, Monovo, Airtal, and Actikerall.
