Information about Ercros
Ercros is a company dedicated to the chemical industry that manufactures products based on three main lines: chlorine derivatives, intermediate chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Among the chlorine derivatives they develop Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Ammonia, Potassium Carbonate, Sodium Chlorate, Vinyl Chloride (VCM), PVC Compounds, Sodium Hypochlorite, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-S), among others, also with respect to intermediate chemistry the products are related to Glues and resins, Methanol, Paraformaldehyde, Molding powders, etc., and in its third processing unit the results are Fusidic acid, Azithromycin, Clarithromycin, Erythromycins, Famotidine, etc.
It was founded in 1989 through the merger between Cros and the Unión Explosivos Río Tinto (ERT) group, which is divided into five business areas, ERT and Cros being the division dedicated to the creation of fertilizers.
However, due to a large amount of debts inherited by its predecessors, Ercros went through a strong economic complication, declaring a suspension of payments in 1992, closing several factories and considerably reducing the number of employees, for which reason it also had to sell many of its subsidiaries.
With the intention of resolving this situation, the directors reorganized the corporation and in 2000 began a new stage dedicated to the chemical sector, making new affiliations that today make it one of the most important non-petrochemical companies in Spain.
