Moncler S.p.A., is a group specialized in the design and manufacture of luxury clothing and outerwear, from its beginnings characterized by creating down jackets, evolving to raincoats, vests, leather goods, footwear, knitwear, accessories, soaps and fragrances.
The name of the company derives from the village Monestier-de-Clermont, being abbreviated as Moncler, where René Ramillon and André Vincent join to found the company in 1952, starting with the manufacture of down jackets, resistant to weather changes, launched two years later the line "Moncler pour Lionel Terray", being chosen for the Italian expedition to K2.
The brand was bought in 2003 by the Italian Remo Ruffini, who focused on expanding the company and incorporating luxury items, entering the world of high fashion in 2006, starting to be listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2013, announcing in 2021 the acquisition of Stone Island.
Because of this, the group has focused its efforts on urban fashion, using the slogan "Born to protect", although throughout its history it has produced several collections such as the Moncler line, made for women and men, the Moncler Enfanta, children's clothing, Moncler Grenoble, dedicated to skiwear, Moncler Gamme Rouge, the haute couture line, Moncler Gamme Bleu, Moncler O and Moncler C.
The company reported in 2022 that it exceeded €2.6 billion in revenues, with a net profit of €600 million.
