Information about Saipem
Saipem S.p.A., an Italian company operating in the oil and gas industry, is a subsidiary of the Eni group, which controls 43% of its shares.
It was founded in 1957 through the merger of SAIP a drilling contractor and the company Snam Montaggi, to provide services to the Eni group, but from 1969 they begin to operate activities autonomously, initially through the construction of oil plants, onshore pipelines and other functions in the Mediterranean Sea.
It was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 1984, subsequently buying several companies to consolidate its expansion, among them Bouygues Offshore s.a. in 2002 and Snamprogetti in 2006, achieving inclusion in the list of the 100 most sustainable global companies in the world.
The company executes infrastructure construction works, extraction and production complexes and plants, gas treatment plants, onshore and offshore pipelines, compressor stations, fertilization, uses its own offshore and deepwater installation and drilling fleets.
It has extensive and recognized engineering skills, technological innovation, project management expertise, a high focus on workplace safety, sustained development of local communities, more than 2,000 active patents, a 76% effectiveness level in avoiding delays in its oil projects, and reported research and innovation spending of 60 million euros.
