A2A S.p.A., an Italian group incorporated as a joint stock company (SpA), is in charge of generating, distributing and commercializing various services such as energy, gas, electricity, water and waste management, mainly present in the municipalities of northern Italy, with facilities in Greece.
It was founded in 2008 with the merger of three companies dedicated to providing public services in municipalities located in northern Italy ("Azienda Milanese Servizi Ambientali", "Azienda dei Servizi Municipalizzati" and "Azienda Elettrica Municipale"), still partially owned by Milan and Brescia in early 2023, which have the power to appoint 12 of its 15 directors.
Its business model is based on diversified activities dedicated to the production and commercialization of energy, related to the management of generation plants, purchase and sale of electricity and fuels, both gaseous and non-gaseous, water cycle and waste processing, collaborating with other associations and institutions, local customers, communities and various regions.
In 2022 they registered a workforce of more than 13 thousand people, with an economic value distributed in 22,460 million euros, and revenues that exceeded 23 billion euros, investing in that year 1,240 million euros, adopting a strategic plan focused on environmental, social and governance objectives, with the purpose of driving the energy transition and generating zero emissions.
