ERG S.p.A., a group originally dedicated to the oil sector and power generation, has modified its business to focus on the production of energy from sustainable and renewable sources, including hydroelectric, photovoltaic and thermoelectric, seeking to devise solutions to reduce the environmental impact, achieving impressive results by reducing its CO2 impact by 88% in the last ten years.
It was founded in 1938 focusing on the sale of petroleum and tar products, taking its name from the initials of its founder Edoardo Raffinerie Garrone. In 1984 it began to grow internationally and to expand its activities into the fuel distribution sector, acquiring thousands of service stations and establishing a wide network throughout Italy.
In 2000 they began to generate electricity, transforming the business towards renewable sources in 2006, starting with the management of some wind power plants, continuing with a process of consolidation in the sector by incorporating other sources such as solar and hydroelectric, so they implemented a strategy of divestment in the oil division to focus mainly on renewables.
