Prysmian S.p.A., a semi-public multinational company, with 67% of the members of its board of shareholders being independent, specializes in the manufacture of electrical cables, used in the telecommunications, fiber optics and energy sectors, and is a leader in the wiring of wind farms.
It was founded in 1879 under the name of Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi, obtaining a contract in 1881 to create submarine telegraph cables.
