UniCredit S.p.A. is an Italian group, specialized in the financial industry that works through private banking services, is one of the most important in its country, with international presence.

It was founded in 1998 through the merger between Unicredito and Banco Credito Italiano, and the following year the Unicredito Italiano group was created with the merger of seven major banks: Cassamarca, Rolo Banca, Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste, Credito Italiano, CariVerona, Banca CRT and Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto, changing to its current name in 2003.

It began to expand since its creation, acquiring other entities in various countries, such as Yapi Kredi by Koç in Turkey, controlling shares of the Croatian Splitska Banka and the Slovakian Pol'nobanka, Pioneer Group, Inc. in the United States, and Ukrsotsbank in Ukraine, also joining the Capitalia group and the German HVB group, managing to expand its popularity to become one of the sponsors of the UEFA Champions League in 2009.

The company has operations in 18 countries in Europe, its main market being Italy, where it has a 15% market share and is considered the second largest financial institution in that country, in addition to having a presence in Germany, Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turkey, Russia and Romania, through several subsidiaries.
