Its beginnings derive from the coffee shop De Witte Os, founded by Egbert Douwes in Joure, Netherlands, in 1753, becoming in 1780 a marketer of coffee, tea and tobacco, opening its first business in Germany in 1895, selling its products in France, Spain, Denmark and Belgium from 1948.
