Jerónimo Martins SGPS, S.A., is a Portuguese company specialized in the manufacture of perishable consumer goods and in the distribution of food products, being the owner of the Jerónimo Martins Retail (JMR) brand, which operates in the supply of a wide chain of hypermarkets and Pingo Doce supermarkets.

In addition, the company owns different industries in Portugal focused on the manufacture of Unilever branded products, through the subsidiary "Joint venture Unilever Jerónimo Martins", as well as the supermarket chain Biedronka of Polish origin since 1997, with which it operates more than 2,800 stores, located in Colombia since 2013 with the discount store chain Ara and in Madeira with Cash-and-Carry Recheio.

It was founded in Lisbon in 1792 by Jeronimo Martins, operating as a grocery store, passing into the hands of the Soares dos Santos family in 1921, who decided to keep the original name, expanding since 1997 by buying the Sé Supermarkets in Brazil, later selling them, as well as becoming owners of a variety of companies such as Lillywhites and other participations in other sectors such as Eurocash, in Poland.

Its main business unit is wholesale and retail sales, considered one of the leaders in the country's retail trade, with the brands Recheio, Pingo Doce, the Hussel chocolate shop and the Jeronymo coffee shops.
