KBC Group N.V., a financial company that operates as an insurance bank, focused on private customers or small companies located mainly in Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Hungary, is positioned in the top ten largest banks in Europe, with 41 thousand employees offering services to 12 million customers worldwide.

It originated in 1998 through the merger of major companies, Kredietbank (KB), ABB Insurance and Fidelitas Insurance and the cooperative CERA Bank, thus deriving the initials KBC, (K for Krediet B for Bank and C for CERA).

The following year they began a series of partial or total acquisitions of various companies, a strategy they have maintained for years, to expand internationally, among them the "Československá obchodní banka" in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, "Kredyt Bank" in Poland, "KBC Securities", "INK Insurance Broker" and "Romstal Leasing" in Romania, "EIBANK", "DZI Insurance" in Bulgaria, among others.

Although due to the crisis that occurred in the last years of the decade between 2000 and 2010, they decided to execute a series of divestments to repay a series of loans received from the state, since then they have presented a consolidated growth by making new acquisitions.
