Elia Group S.A., is mainly in charge of the distribution of electricity with high voltage networks, with a load ranging from 30 thousand to 380 thousand volts, transmitting from the large generators to the local system operators, which then send the fluid to homes and businesses, with commercial power.

In addition to serving as distributor of the service, the group performs other complementary activities, such as the maintenance of high voltage installations, as well as the development and assembly of the same, the administration of the system, giving it follow-up and balance between generation and consumption, 24 hours a day, as well as consulting and engineering services, which it provides through the subsidiary Elia Grid International, which it created in 2014 for that purpose.

The company leads the development of electricity systems in both onshore and offshore lines, managing transmission between 30 kV and 400 kV in Belgium, with a transmission line that exceeds 8 thousand kilometers both overhead and subway, reaching 30 million users.
