EssilorLuxottica S.A., is a corporation dedicated to the design, production and marketing of lenses, ophthalmic equipment, sunglasses, prescription optical glass, among others, owning more than 150 brands and more than 12 thousand patents and designs.

The company known today arises from the merger between Essilor and Luxottica completed in 2018, after fulfilling the necessary requirements to receive authorization from different agencies around the world, at a technical level Luxottica's procedures and equipment became the property of Essilor.

The following year the company buys Brille24 GmbH, continuing a series of acquisitions such as Union Optic, Optico Argentina (MOA), part of the GrandVision group which owns Vision Express and For Eyes.

This merger made the group become a giant in the industry, turning over €16 million, generating some controversy by antitrust advocates, for which they had to pay a fine of €17 million in 2023.
