Description of the company

Orange S.A., formerly known as France Télécom, is a company engaged in telecommunications, offering fixed and mobile telephony, internet and IP television services, through its fiber, satellite, submarine cable, 4G and 5G installations, with a presence in several countries in Europe and Africa, being the leading operator in France, with an operating share approaching 45%.

The origins of Orange are related to the company Microtel Communications Ltd, which was acquired by the conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa, being renamed Orange, and launched in the British market in 1994, being bought again in 2000 by France Télécom, thus entering the countries in which the initial company operated.

In 2004, the French government decided to sell part of France Télécom's shares, thus privatizing the company, and the following year it managed to enter the Spanish market and gradually change all the brands owned by the group to unify them all under the name Orange.

From then on, important actions were taken that positioned the company as a leader in its industry, launching Wi-fi wireless Internet in 2003, obtaining ISO 14001 certification in 2005, offering video on demand service in 2006, opening Studio 37 specialized in cinematography, creating the Amman Technocenter in Jordan, opening television channels, inaugurating the Orange Cyberdefense subsidiary, among others.

It currently offers services in 26 countries, serving 287 million customers, from companies, professionals and individuals, with 136 thousand employees.
