Bouygues S.A., a French group with diversified activities according to the subsidiaries it owns, specializes in engineering and construction projects, real estate sales, telecommunications and media.
It was founded in 1952 by Francis Bouygues, and soon after began an extensive process of acquisitions, starting in 1985 with the purchase of Screg, Sacer and Colas, companies dedicated to road construction. Two years later, it acquired the TF1 television channel, and in 1988 decided to relocate its headquarters to the Challenger complex.
The group maintained its strategy and in 1996 launched its subsidiary Bouygues Télécom, acquiring HGT Telecom, part of Altom's energy activities, the Australian construction company AW Edwards and Engie's Equans, a technical services business.
Due to the variety of functions of the acquired companies, the group has a broad business structure, developing several operating chains, such as civil construction, public works, road works, railroads, residential development, commercial and hotel infrastructure, maintenance, media, passenger transportation and real estate development.
The most well-known subsidiaries are Bouygues Construction, Bouygues Immobilier, Colas Group, Bouygues Télécom, TF1 Group, Alstom (small stake), BINA Istra and Ecuanos.
