It was founded in 1967 as SOGETI (la Société pour la Gestion de l'Entreprise et le Traitement de l'Information), buying in 1973 its main competitor PAC, followed by the acquisition of Gemini Sogeti Computer Systems, changing the name in 1975 to CAP Gemini Sogeti, a decade later continuing with its strategy of incorporating new businesses and buying the consulting division CGA.

In 2004 he rebranded the group to Capdemini, followed by a broad portfolio of acquisitions including 50% of Unilever India Shared Services Limited (Indigo), Kanbay International, Software Architects, Getronics Applications PinkRoccade, Test UK Vizuri, Nu Solutions, IBX, Plaisir de Informatique, CPM Braxis, Artesys, Avantias, Praxis Technology and the AIVE Group.
