Information about Just Eat Takeaway.com
Just Eat Takeaway.com N.V., formerly known as Takeway.com, is a multinational company with Dutch origins, which is primarily engaged in delivering home food orders ordered online.
The first version of Takeaway.com was created in 2000 by Jitse Groen, who came up with the idea as a way to solve some difficulties he experienced when trying to order food online from a number of restaurants in his locality, staying in the food sector by observing that they were the ones with the highest demand.
In the early years the business grew slowly, until broadband internet is established, starting to accept Bitcoin in 2013, and starting to acquire companies of the same style worldwide changing with it the name to Takeawaey.com.
From 2020 they completely buy Just Eat changing its name to Just Eat Takeawaey.com, and partners with iFood in Brazil and Colombia, acquiring the following year the Slovak company Bistro.sk, although in 2022 they cease operations in Romania and announce the sale of part of their shares in iFood to Prosus.
Currently its headquarters are located in Amsterdam, with a platform that operates in more than 20 countries, being recognized in 2020 as the most successful company in its sector in the world.
