Fresenius SE., formerly a public limited company, is a company engaged in the healthcare industry, specializing in healthcare, is considered one of the most important in Germany in its sector, has more than 310 thousand employees, recording a revenue volume exceeding 40 billion euros in 2022.

It was founded in 1912 maintaining a wide range of products and solutions, incorporating in 1966 a revolutionary equipment that allows dialysis to its patients with renal problems, opening between 1974 and 1979 the St. Wendel and Schweinfurt plants, becoming a joint stock company in 1982.

After their IPO, they created the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation in 1996 and two years later the Fresenius Kabi Foundation, their activities were highly boosted, reaching the production of 50 million dialyzers per year, buying HELIOS and Renal Care Group two years later, becoming a European company (SE) in 2007, expanding their base with the acquisition of Dabur Pharma and APP Pharmaceuticals.

Today they have four business units or subsidiaries where they distribute their activities:

  • Fresenius Kabi, which produces products for critical and chronic patients such as catheters and saline.
  • Fresenius Helios, a hospital management company, provides private healthcare in Europe, with 112 hospitals in Germany.
  • Fresenius Medical Care, the unit dedicated to patients with kidney problems, includes specialized clinics for their treatment under the NephroCare brand.
  • Fresenius Vamed, a subsidiary operating mainly in Austria, offers specialized services in the management and maintenance of medical equipment as well as feasibility studies.
