Fastned N.V., a company that owns and operates a network of more than 1,500 EV (direct current for electric vehicles) charging stations, offers its services in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland, mainly located at Dutch freeway rest areas.

It was founded in 2012, by Bart Lubbers and Michiel Langezaal, receiving in the same semester a permit for the development, construction and operation of charging stations for a period of fifteen years, to be located in rest areas in the Netherlands, managing to place the first four in 2013.

The construction of the first charging station required private investment, reaching a total sum of approximately 200 thousand euros, in 2018 begins to grow the use of the services offered by the company, managing to expand internationally starting with Germany.

During the quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Fastned decreased its sales by almost 70% which seriously affected it, overcoming that period with some difficulty and reaching a turnover of 36 million euros in 2022, which keeps it at a stable point, investing in its growth, but without registering profits for its continued expansion.

Fastned has 134 stations, which have an estimated use of 194 thousand times per quarter, with approximately 53 thousand different customers, these are characterized by incorporating in its infrastructure two yellow arches with a curved roof, which also have solar panels, on the other hand, have designed other higher stations so that they can provide service to trucks and electric buses.

They can recharge up to 300 kilometers, offering 15-minute autonomy, for all types of electric vehicles, with a wide range of payment options.
